 Hyssopus officinalis

 

 

Hyssop essential oil is extracted from a plant species named Hyssopus officinalis. Belonging to the Labiatae family the oil is extract from the upper floral parts and the leaves of the plant. The oil which is taken out by a process of steam distillation has a sweet and warming aroma.

 

Hyssopus officinalis from which Hyssop oil has been extracted is a shrub which usually grows up to a height of 60 cm and draws its origin from the Mediterranean region. The plant bears purple green flowers with green leaves and woody hairy stem.

 

Hyssop oil has proved to be extremely effective for treating female disorders and many other health related problems.  The medical benefits of Hyssop essential oil has been mentioned in the ancient writings and at present is used by British Herbal Pharmacopeias to cure Bronchitis and cold.
